Sure.
Rush Limbaugh tried this with operation chaos, to help Hillary against Obama.
How’d that work out?
I can’t see how a solitary individual doing this makes any sense. If millions did it, maybe. But you have to understand. The dems are in thrall to their hardcore left groups that support them with hard money. Gays, enviromentalist wackos, pacifists, Muslims, Communists, Socialists, Union thugs, reverse racists, illegals, radical “feminazis” etc etc.
You have nothing to offer them. They are not into “ideas” so much as they are into power and control, from the STATE (FEderales), over the lives of the “little people”, the great unwashed in flyover country.
But if it makes you feel better to believe you’re “doing something”, go jump into the pit.
Operation chaos was not about trying to have Hillary win the nomination. It was meant to keep her in the Primary so she would keep going after Obama (Rush would say, “bloody him up”) in a way Rush knew the GOP would not. He was right and it worked. He was also correct that the GOP would be spineless jellyfish in the general, so we lost.
I must concur with you. A Conservative joining the Democratic Party and trying to reform it from within is about as hopeless as a Pro-Lifer going to work, as a janitor, at an abortion clinic, and trying to reform it.
If it were possible for one to attain a high-ranking position within the Democratic Party - without losing one's soul - then one might possibly be able (in a small way) to become an advocate for moral decency on some non-core issues, to moderate its tone, and to curb its worst excesses. Perhaps one could even acquire a reputation as a decent, level-headed Democratic Party functionary, and be held up (by others seeking to profit unfairly from it) as an example of someone of character within the Party.
But you might as well try jumping in bed with a flea-ridden dog, with the intent of helping the dog to free itself of fleas.
