officers are normal people. capable of lying to further careers, get revenge on people, etc.
which is why courts should no longer regard them as unimpeachable witnesses.
the sheer number of officers - feds groups, local cops, sheriffs, marshalls, etc, just inreases the number of corrupt ones that do this.
no more unimpeachable witness status by the courts for officers. hell they have cameras, they leave their mics on when talking to suspects or witnesses, they aren’t helpless.
And that's why the public should never allow them to be elevated to demi-god status. There's a TV show named "Southland" about Los Angeles policemen. I liked a statement that prefaced one of this new season's shows:
"We hold cops to a higher standard because we give them a gun and a badge. The only problem with that is they're recruited from the human race."
