I’ve been playing it for 35 years. You don’t need an official course, you just need a park. You bring your friends, some beer, your own frisbees, and take turns calling the holes. Like, ya gotta hit that tree then this park bench.

It’s actually kinda fun and it also reflects how the original game of golf was invented. It was a bunch of shepherds bored with watching their flocks. So they picked up a rock, wrapped it with sheeps wool, started hitting it with their staff, called out various holes, and voila’, the whole day passed real quick-like.

If you've never played on a professional course, you are missing out.

This weekend is the Kansas City Wide Open. It is being played on four different courses. The finals will be at the Swope Park Disc Golf Course. The effort the city, and the Disc Golfers have put into making The SPDGC one of the best in the country is awesome. The Wide Open is one of the largest events in Disc Golf. Players come from all over the world to play. Live bands, concessions, disc sales, t-shirt sales. It's amazing.

Most people aren't even aware of the sport, yet it is one of the largest in the world. Courses are all over the world, and even our our aircraft carriers. I know there are more Disc Golf courses around my local area than there are regular golf courses.

Anyone can find local disc golf courses in their area by going to DISCGOLFCOURSEREVIEW.com It's like a GOOGLE MAP of DISC GOLF.

your own frisbees

That tells me you haven't really played 'disc golf'.

They don't use frisbees.

They use regulated (limited in size and weight) GOLF DISCS.

They are nothing like frisbees, and not thrown the same way. You can play catch with them, if you like your hands bruised or your fingers broken.

I have cut limbs off trees from 200 feet away with these discs.

And you NEVER get in the line of fire, even if you are 300 feet away from the thrower. If the disc hits you in the head, you are going to need stitches. I have seen it happen.

Imagine throwing a frisbee 100 feet up and over 300 feet away. Won't happen. Golf discs, yes. Watched it done over and over yesterday. Although I don't try to throw over the tops of 100 foot trees like my son, I can throw it 200-300 feet easily.

Here's a putter, midrange, and driver set of discs.
