I’ve always shot rifles and shotguns left handed. Never got one that was specifically for lefties. Yea, I’ve had a few hot shell casings down the sleeve, but it’s not that bad.
I started shooting pistols left handed...couldn’t hit sh**. Had a weapons expert do a dominant eye test on me. I am right eyed. Started shooting pistols right handed 20 years ago. I’m not a great pistol shot, but I can knock a man down at 60 meters. You have to love the Army’s pop up .45 and 9MM ranges.
Remington produces left-hand firearms. I hated right hand bolt action rilfes. Operating the left hand 700 is wonderful. I do everyrhing left-handed; write, throw, bat, slap shot and jump shot. But I have the same issue with pistol shooting you describe. My dad taught me to shoot a .22 rifle before he taught me to ride a bike, and I can hit anything with a rifle. We used to pick off wasps with BB guns as they hovered in the air outside their nests. But with a pistol I can’t hit a house standing on the front porch.
Same here. Feels very natural now with pistol, but it took a while.
Now I am in the process of re-training myself to shoot rifle right handed. Just a muscle memory thing, so I am starting with a pellet rifle.
With AR type rifles it does not matter to me about the controls, but I want to get a bolt gun. Also want to see if I do better on a rifle with my dominant eye using red dot type sights.
I have a bad right eye so even though I am right handed, I've always shot left handed too. I shoot right handed guns however.
