A 44-year-old Michigan woman went to her local hospital for hernia pains. Fifteen hours later, Linda Ackley was a first time mom. Turns out the "hernia" was a baby girl ready to make her big debut.

LOL No, I don’t remember exactly what they named her but I think it started with a C like Cheryl or something like that. We met them years later again in Kansas when my husband got transferred from Fort Rucker, AL to Fort Riley, KS. The girl was then 5 or 6 years old if I recall. Then after my husband retired at Fort Campbell, KY my husband found out that they were stationed there and lived on post. We visited them in their Quarters. The girl by the way was not the oldest one. they had already a boy when the wife thought she had a tumor. That is why I could not understand that she didn’t know she was pregnant
When I was pregnant with my daughter in 1969 and I went to my checkup there was a woman there who looked like she was about four month along. Then in 1972 when we got transferred to Fort Riley we were neighbors. I found out that she was the one who looked like she was only 4 month along. They had a boy and Billy was only a few weeks older or younger, then my daughter. Anyway they went to kindergarten together
My mom told me that she as so excited to beleive she was pregnant and went to the doctors thinking two months, the doctor told her seven months.
She had what she though was a period until five months.
Sometimes, a woman who has never been pregnant just does not know.
Sure, it can happen. It's considered early menopause if it happens before 40. My mom went through it at 42, not long after I was born. I'm 49 and have no signs of menopause.
I hear these stories about women who didn’t know they were pregnant and I have to scratch my head. There’s a certain monthly cycle that hasn’t happened in several months. There’s the obvious extended abdomen and the fact that for the last few months she can’t sleep on her stomach and for God’s sake, can’t she feel the baby moving!!!??? Can she be that ignorant??
Hmm. More questions for this physician. Really - she went to the doctor and he sends her off for a CT scan??? No examination. Not a standard of care for someone who thinks he/she might have a hernia. Very weird.
Wow! Just WOW... “The Manatou”...the ultimate ultimate obscure reference! Hats off to you!
plus all the kicking and moving a baby does before birth. At times its like the baby is wrestling with itself..
Woman Goes To Hospital for Hernia.....

Was the Hospital giving them away or selling them?
From the article: “Some people have nine months to prepare. I had [15] hours,” the new father said. He and Linda, who met in high school, have been married for 24 years. In 2011, Linda contracted necrotizing fasciitis, a serious type of bacterial infection. Mike Ackley told MLive that doctors didn’t think his wife would live.”
What a wonderful miracle!
I had a woman cousin who was obese enough that she and the doctors didn’t know when she was pregnant. She ended up having a couple of sons, though!
