I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.
Where is Larimer?
I rarely go north of Mt. Lebanon, so all those other areas are a mystery (well, except the Strip District - wheee!)
I fought off a pit bull a few years back in a very small passage. The saving grace was that I was carrying a suitcase. I recommend the highest denier ballistic nylon luggage you can afford for pit bull attacks. The luggage was unscathed, and more importantly, so was I!
Fortunately, the owner woke up and called her off within a minute. It was a very long minute as she lunged at me and tried to get over the suitcase to me.
Years later, we (dog and I) made our peace with each other, once sharing a recliner and watching the Dog Whisperer.
