I can’t stand to even listen to the emporors voice so I paid for a movie last night. I think it was called “The greatest Marigold Hotel” - had a lot of my favorite british actors.
I had DVR’d the movie “Bridesmaids.” I have been told, fairly often, that I have a good sense of humor. Very little in that movie struck me as funny. I found it annoying, with the gags overdone to the point of infuriation. The writers are blissfully unaware of “Brevity is the soul of wit,” and “Once is a joke.” The scene where all the girls got food poisoning and detritus was coming out of every orifice actually forced me to get up and leave the room, lest I be similarly afflicted. Yet this movie grossed (and I do mean “grossed”) 10 times what it cost to make. Apparently, I am as out of touch with the viewing public’s tastes as I am with the voting public’s tastes. Still—it was better than watching Obama.
xsboy called me around 10:30 pm last night [i had JUST dozed off after the caps game] to say that he saw one of his professors tweet that he could listen to Obama all night long. xsboy wanted a pithy response to tweet back. i said you could say that if he likes listening to Obama he must be a fan of fairytales. He used it and the guy replied that he didn’t agree with everything that obama says but that thinks he is an eloquent speaker. xsboy thought it prudent to stop the back and forth at that point. He said another one of his professors referred to AlGore as the guy who was elected but NOT PERMITTED to be president. My eyes would be rolling back in my skull routinely up there.
