Word For The Day, Wednesday, February 13, 2013-- irrefrangible

;

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

irrefrangible [ir-i-FRAN-juh-buhl]

hear it pronounced

adjective

1. not to be broken or violated; inviolable: an irrefrangible rule of etiquette.
2. incapable of being refracted.

Origin: This Baroque era word irrefrangible derives from a negation of the Latin root frangere meaning "to break," also the root of the word "fraction."

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification.
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

In any other nation a typical official like Eliav would find himself allied against the priests who insisted upon such irrefrangible law, and even he had begun to echo the warning voiced by liana Hacohen: "this Mickey Mouse crap." -- James A. Michener, The Source

But no, Kipling never forgets that Kim is an irrefrangible part of British India: the Great Game does go on, with Kim a part of it, no matter how many parables the lama fashions. -- Rudyard Kipling, Edward W. Said, "Introduction," Kim

Seriously, if you have a dog that looks like that, you might as well get a proper cat.

It was perfect hiking this morning-52, and not a cloud in the sky-a cold front came through last night-

No matter what Obama says
Or the driveby media’s spin
Commoners like us are broke
And aren’t even able to begin

To pursue our own dreams now,
So here’s an irrefrangible rule-
We can’t afford our money to go
To send more kids to preschool

If parents want them drinking
Koolaid at an age so young
Let them pay for their kids
To be shoveling Marxist dung

I couldn’t help but see the movie comments-I didn’t like “Bridesmaids” at all.

The next to last episodes of the British “Pride and Prejudice” series are on tonight-the character of Mr. Darcy in that series is far more obnoxious than the one in the more recent movie-a certified as****.

A++
I had no trouble avoiding the speech. It’s not like I was avoiding something I like, like ice cream. Or Scotch.

My contractor compadre and I were talking about the people who really should be committed to a psychiatric facility popping up and committing crimes instead, and he reminded me of a bumper sticker seen sometimes in the early 80’s that read “support mental health or I’ll kill you”-I’d forgotten that...

I remember when they let all the crazies out and closed the mental health facilities. I had no idea you had the right to be crazy and live on the streets with no roof over your head. Those liberals see rights everywhere.

“with no roof over your head.”

Many of the mentally impaired prefer that to a halfway house or other supervised residential facility because if they aren’t living around others, no one tries to get them to go for counseling, or take their anti-psychotic meds. They get the right to make life dangerous for others, if they imagine some slight, or are having a bad day...

A Kia? I have been thoroughly enjoying all the dogs in Subaru commercials lately. We went to the latest exhibit at the local art museum(the Frist, yes, same family as the senator) and it was Dutch modern work from a museum in Detroit(we couldn’t resist a chance to see some Rembrandts) and there were dogs in almost every painting! Even the ones in churches.

Yes, a Kia. We have two, the Rio that Sir Winston is driving and a Sedona (van) that I drive. We bought them for the warranty, among other things. We've gotten excellent service from them.

My wife has a Kia Rondo, and it’s been a good deal so far. Got it new in 09 as a leftover 08. They don’t make ‘em any more. Or don’t sell them here anyway. I’d buy a Sportage or Sorento for my next car.
