I don’t think the AKC conformation standards have much to do with breed function. In fact some of the standards actually impair function.

Herding trials, lure coursing, retriever trials, obedience, etc are great. Maybe every titled conformation dog should also have to pass their breeds function trial in order to qualify for a conformation title. Then form and function would be in sync.

Yeppers.

The AKC is corrupt to the core.

Go through a registration fraud case with them and have them drag their feet, dodge the issue and then *begrudgingly* rescind the dogs’ titles *but* not remove them from the AKC registry.

[and they *never* recalculated/rewarded the points that *should* have gone to the hundreds of dogs "beaten" by illegally registered dogs]

Instead, the misbegotten, fraudulently registered dogs were given the new “yellow papers” that mean after only *3* generations, their get can again show and hold titles, despite the fact that the dogs bloodlines are false and unknown.

They are only after the money.

It’s the dedicated breeders and fanciers who prop up the AKC.

Without them, the AKC would cheerfully keep registering millions of puppy mill dogs and be happy as clams.

People have no idea of the dark underbelly of the AKC.

I have *seen* them at their worst, firsthand.
