I saw that in the movie theater at the US army’s Cambrai-Fritsch Barracks in Darmstadt, Germany, in 1966.
I was 13 at the time this flick was made , and had the hots for Elke !
Actually, the one I watched was “The Night of the Hunter” on THIS - a terrifying, humorous, mystical film fable with an evocative score and a bunch of haunting iconic images that run through your mind long after the film has ended, like the mother’s body floating at the bottom of the river with her hair waving with the current. I saw the coming attractions for this in the theater when it first came out in 1955, and it looked so frightening that I vowed I never wanted to see the whole thing; a few years back when it was scheduled to appear on TCM I relented and decided to watch, and I was hooked from the first scene. The only film ever directed by Charles Laughton it is unique in so many ways, and worth watching at any time......
