Thanks for the OTL heads-up. I just put it on the DVR schedule.
Dent is a Penn State graduate so we are really getting an unbiased opinion there, aren't we? Puhleese!
" ...according to a review of the university's internal investigation by Joe Paterno's family.
Oh, can we depend on the unvarnished truth from these sources? Puhleese!
Enough already with this cult-like following of the "enabler" Paterno of the pedophile Sandusky.
Please take this perversion elsewhere.
You go stand w/ louis. I'll stand with Joe and Sue.
You go stand w/ louis. I'll stand with Joe and Sue.
It won't be long before you and your ilk will start blaming the victims of this tragedy.
The entire campus should be razed to the ground and the Earth sown with salt. Then the records of Pedo State should be systematically erased so it was as if it had never existed.
Anyone defending that institution is defending serial pedophiles and they know it. And they’re doing it over a stupid game.
What a crock.
THIS is the reason those outside of Penn State are disgusted by Penn State fans. ZERO accountability. Penn State fans pound their chests “Its’ the world against us”. No, it’s the world against your arrogant attitude of ZERO blame.
The Penn State chant for the next ten years should be WE ARE SORRY!!! Instead, it’s a thumb in the eye to everyone else. ZERO accountability. And the Penn State fans are cling to this as another justification for their ZERO accountability.
Congrats Penn State Fans, this will do nothing but continue to make the entire institution look like bigger enablers than ever.
No. We just want the truth. We didn’t get it from louis freeh.
Yeah, that's bound to be an unbiased source.
‘Penn State fans are cling to this as another justification for their ZERO accountability.’
So, the typical Penn State fan is accountable, for what exactly?
These are people who had no contact with JS, the actual pedophile. Accountable because they lived within 100 miles of State College? Accountable because they either attended Penn St or knew someone who did?
The more that this drags on, the more this becomes about tarnishing an entire region of this nation for no other reason than to make others feel good about themselves.
The analogy here is that because Dorner is from Los Angeles, then every resident of Southern Californis is either a cop-killer or a cop-killer sympathizer.
For the last time, the Freeh report was a compendium of what Louis Freeh, thought, had happened at Penn State. Louis never intended for his report to be used beyond the BOT.
We should be careful tossing around Guilt by Association charges. One never knows when it could come home to bite one in the buttocks.
With the NCAA bribing investigators in the U of Miami case....I think you will find more people start becoming a little more rational and reasonable with the Penn State situation. The NCAA and Freeh Report are not credible
Just wonder how ESPN is going to slant the Paterno Report tomorrow. They have been hard on PSU while covering up similar incidents at Syracuse (many of ESPN staff alma-mater is SU)
The Paterno family will win their lawsuit against the NCAA....the SCOTUS decision in Tarakanian v NCAA ruled the NCAA cannot punish coaches without due process. With the NCAA hijinks against Miami....the school itself looks like it will have it as easy to get the NCAA Sanctions overturned
Which I hope so....my alma mater (UCF) just signed a home and home with PSU for ‘13 and ‘14...Bill O’Brien worked under George O’Leary (UCF coach) in the past
Anyone who really follows College Sports and is not stuck to ESPN 24 hrs a day knows that the NCAA has no real authority in the PSU matter....and the school should have never signed anything w the NCAA
Of course, with the NCAA bribing criminals/defense attorneys in the U of Miami case....the NCAA credibility in handling PSU looks even more suspect
Note that the same things were happening at Syracuse University...with their basketball program. Of course, Syracuse is the largest producer of Liberal Media and Sports Media broadcast professionals...so they do not want to discuss that. Gosh, ESPN sat on a taped phone call (for nearly 10 years) between a victim and the offending coach’s wife...who basically admitted her husband was having sex with young boys. ESPN would have sat on it longer if the Sandusky case was never exposed
This “study” is being funded by folks who had intimate contact with Sandusky. What do YOU think the results will be? I know - zero accountability for the numerous faults of the university, it’s officials, culture, and specifically JoePa.
And no, it’s not about tarnishing the region, it’s about shaking our heads at the Penn Staters who defiantly try to say nothing is wrong. “It was one man, and maybe a single official or two, who are to blame - nothing else”. What % accountability do you think will rest at JoePa’s feet from this report?
you do realize there is a trail out there to shows JoePa knew about SAndusky in 1997-8, he was informed about yet another incident by McQuery in 2002, and JoePA/the rest of the leadership at Penn State, still sat back doing nothing while Sandusky was violating children down the hallway from JoePa’s office AFTER 2002?
Yeah, enjoy your “See we(penn state) did nothing wrong!!!”, joke of a report. It will no nothing but make the ostriches at Penn State look even worse.
Paterno did know about Sandusky in 1998. That is why he had Sandusky removed from the football program. The child services, police and local DA also knew about Sandusky in 1998 and they ALL took a pass on doing about Sandusky.
The failures in this case crossed many jurisdictional lines, it is just easier to focus on the Joe Paterno, Penn St angle cause they must be bad since they play that Northern football thingy.
Yes the blame is there, it’s not only JoePa, but university and local police, heck even the Governor himself. But last I checked, Sandusky wasn’t violating children down the hallway from anyone’s office but JoePa’s. At a MINIMUM, JoePa’s name should be put up at equally culpable as the worst individuals Penn Stater’s want to point to(instead of JoePa)
It isn’t a study, it’s a report. Just like the freeh report. freeh was hired by the PSU b.o.t. and interviewed 3 of the 18 most relevant witnesses in this case.
Wick Sollers and Dick Thornburgh (and others with FAR better reputations than freeh) were hired by the Paterno Family.
You act like freeh was still working for the FBI and this was some federal investigation. freeh is famous for incomplete investigations and unfounded conclusions. He just effed up FIFA a few years ago with the same nonsense. Pick the desired ending (for whoever is paying) and then gin up sketchy facts to support it.
Tomorrow, his report will likely be blown out of the water (it’s already dead in the water if it ever sees the inside of a court room).
I hope you’re tuned in. Maybe you’ll learn something.
Joe did not know about 1998. It would have been ILLEGAL for him to be informed about 1998 - per state law.
The e-mails cited for this conclusion in the freeh report will be exposed tomorrow. A few of them are pretty funny in that if he’d have just asked the right people, they would have had the truth. Lets just say that Jerry Dunn was the basketball coach and in contract negotiations at the time.
js retired in 1998 to take advantage of a pension deal the state was giving. He was then re-hired for the 1999 season as a “consultant” - while really still being the DC.
"Pick the desired ending (for whoever is paying) and then gin up sketchy facts to support it."
Now, do you realize how ridiculous you sound touting the Paterno family's report?
google: FIFA freeh
As much as folks around here like to point out the obvious logical fallacy of liberals’ guilt by association tactics (e.g. NRA members have blood on their hands for gun-related crimes), threads like these illustrate the extent to which critical thinking is in short supply on all sides of the political spectrum. People are so easily influenced by an ESPN headline that seems to meet their preconceived notions. No wonder politicians make use of emotional appeals so often; it’s generally effective regardless of one’s political bent.
