What happened to the turbin car? That was supposed to be the next big thing...several decades ago.

Turbines (at least ones that get reasonable fuel economy) need to run at extremely high temperatures. That requires very expensive alloy metals which are really only affordable for aircraft where the low weight of the powerplant is vital.

A guy in our neighborhood had one of those and drove it by every morning where I waited for my bus to school. Very cool sound as it went by.

I found a copy of this same brochure in great shape and I still have it.
