actually, pre-1913 federal taxes were only applied to the state... not the individual.

the founders fought a war to get away from big govt and taxes on the individual... do you think they would want this??

The Constitution mentioned a "direct" taxation power of the fedgov twice. Did that mean something other than taxation of individuals? It may be that the fedgov did not avail itself of the power before 1913.
