In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
intemerate \in-TEM-er-it\, adjective
Inviolate; undefiled; unsullied; pure.
Example sentences:
The rain smelled cool and earthy, and with her eyes closed it sounded louder and nearer; it seemed to be in the room, falling small and touchless upon her; it was clear, intemerate as the sky.
-- Fred Chappell, The Inkling
Did you know, sir, that I can trace my intemerate ancestry to Adam through the paternal line, and to Eve through the maternal line?
-- Andrew Drummond, Handbook of Volapük
Etymology:
Intemerate comes from the Latin root emerā which meant "to violate, desecrate." The prefix in- means "not" as in the words indefensible and inexpensive.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
That should say ear rubbing.
The thought of “The Won” with a gun in his hand gives mechills.
They know signs for their tricks(sit, stay, roll over) but not for the most basic commands like come and out. It’s a good time to teach it. Don’t we all have one of those dogs who just cannot be matched? I lost my favorite in April.
Good for Marsha!
We love our Marsha. She is a longtime NRA member too. A+ for you.
I have one now who is aging quickly, and it saddens my heart. I think he will be my last dog because I cannot bear to lose another.
are they similar to Owebama throwing a baseball? LMAO I guess I will have to google this.
I am afraid we may have lost some good ones because this maxim was not heeded.
Our Missy is fading. She will go outside, then get confused and just stand there shaking in the cold. In the house we keep diapers on her. She sleeps most of the day. She rallies anytime my DH comes home. It’s heartbreaking to see her like this. I don’t want another dog after her. Too sad.
Now that’s funny! I will always have dogs and can’t imagine a home without one. They add so much to my life.
Very festive attire!
May I be added to the ping list?
stylish, too!
It is intemperate to intimate that 0bama is intemerate.
The Constitution’s design is intemerate
We’re a republic, not some corrupt emirate
With all the lyin’ & lootin’
Barack acts like Putin
‘cept Obama’s a lot more effemerate
My heart goes out to you, having been there a few times.
I always end up getting another dog though.
I never learn, it seems.
i’m with you and SG, heartbreaking as it is to lose them, dogs are the essence of life IMO. One of xshub’s employees lost her cav the night before last to mitral valve disease. i just sent her a sympathy email, having gone through it just under 2 years ago ourselves. xshub told her to look for signs of grief in the remaining dog, bc of our experience with Chanel’s KEENING wail after Lucius died. I told him last night to get prepared for the idea of three cavs at once for a period of time, bc at the point Chanel starts having problems we are going to have to get a third bc my bawl-baby insecure Jules cannot possibly be an only dog. He ADORES Chanel, and i don’t even want to contemplate him without her around.
