The businesses are generous, but everyday folks are donating roooms, too. Usually, just one or two rooms. The whole thing is amazing. A line of duty death is still very rare around here. They probably all want to come, but it costs money. Webster is coming here, they were interviewed and our dead firefighter had gone to the services for the two that were shot there around Christmas. The brotherhood is strong.
“If its the last day, why not get stuffed?”
I know that seems logical, but I really dislike feeling stuffed after a meal-I like the perfect amount of each thing, and I’m not a dessert eater-but I probably would drink the whole damn bottle of wine and go into my last battle like a berserker or one of my native ancestors...
I thought I just saw something that said blah, blah, making the Monday after Super Bowl a holiday-it flashed by on the news trailer on my ISP homepage. Surely I’m mistaken...
It was for me last year.
Of course, I was in Mexico and it was some unrelated Mexican holiday, but it still worked out perfectly.
We used to take our kids to my BIL’s for the superbowl party. It was an hour away and the kids had to get up for school the next day. I made sure they had pillows to try to sleep in the car. Always a bad week after as they were the morning paper boys, then on to school on the Monday after. We would all go to bed early on Monday night trying to catch up on sleep. Sounds good, but really? A holiday for the superbowl sounds silly.
“some unrelated Mexican holiday”
My first husband and I used to visit Mexico when one of my relatives who worked for an American company was there on a two-year contract. He never cared if some holiday was unrelated or not, he and my uncle would eat and drink until they fell into a stupor.
I thought it did, too-that’s why I figured I’d misread the thing...
Really they should just play the game on Saturday night.
I agree completely-it makes perfect sense, which is why it will never happen...
So the other half is the FREEZE part?
Well, just the back half of the dog needs to go outside!
No, he’s a designer mutt from a puppy mill, Half Bichon, hlaf Cocker Spaniel. We call him a Bishon Spaniel. It sounds better than a Cocker Frise. Sportier too. He hops onto the couch as soon as I get up to steal my spot.
That's why we have Dachshunds.
Are you guys warmer this morning? I hope so...
It is 56, with fog and drizzle here-early this morning, I hiked to the highest vantage point-not a soul in sight, not a vehicle on the road...
It’s in the 30s here and I’m home sick from work. Nasty cold and cough.
I’m sorry to hear that-I hope it goes away post haste-do you have Zicam/Coldeez, etc?
I’m drinking clear fluids nonstop and using decongestants that require me to show my DL at the store. As if I had the energy to run a meth lab today.
And they think you fit the profile of a meth cooker?
I was singing the chorus of this stupid song while hiking this morning, and asking myself where did THAT come from?
“Once I said I wanted you
I don’t remember why
I often wonder if it’s true
That you could make me cry
I only know it’s long ago
You said I love you too
But I got one solution that
We’re gonna start anew
How do you do
Mm Mm
I thought
Wa-na Na-na Na-na
Just me and you
And then we can
Na-na Na-na
Just like before
And you will say
Na-na Na-na
Please give me more
And you will think
Na-na Na-na
Hey that’s what I’m living for”
I must have slipped into the twilight zone...
