Newest climate change warrior: Derek Jeter
Green Room ^ | 1-24-2013 | Allahpundit

Posted on 01/24/2013 3:08:04 PM PST by Sir Napsalot

Just doing my part as an avowed Yankee-hater to spread fear and loathing of the pinstripes among AGW skeptics who might otherwise root for them.

He’s in Davos this week, by the way. Really. When do we get Mariano Rivera’s views on the debt ceiling?

“I was in New York for Hurricane Sandy,” Jeter told The Dispatch this morning, following a private function in Davos, Switzerland. Jeter is here for the Forum this week with Pepsi.

“It’s just something that’s gotten so much attention,” Jeter said of climate change. “Regardless of how you feel about it, it’s something that needs to be addressed because we’re seeing more and more natural disasters each year, it seems like. Something has to be causing it.”

But Jeter, himself a global icon as the captain of one of the most recognizable and successful sports franchises in the world, said he doesn’t try to interject into politics.

“I know my place,” Jeter said.

I know, I know — “weather isn’t climate” — but I’m treating the fact the temperatures in NYC will be sub-zero with the windchill as this news is trickling out today as proof that God is, indeed, a Mets fan.

TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: climatechange; globalwarming; globalwarminghoax; shutupandplay
Like AP said, I want to know what Jeter's doing at the Davos Forum?

I’m a huge Jeter fan.

Don’t do it Derek ! Spit it out !

Public figures are avidly recuited.

Folks need to understand the organization:

Level I: statist totalitarian monopolist finance

Level II: A) the Left political machine B) the Right political machine

Level III: A) Democrat party B) Republican party

Hey Derek, if you really want to do something about climate change (global warming to liberals) I have a suggestion. Get down on your knees tonight when you go to bed and have a conversation with the One who controls it. I am sure he will hear your prayer and respond appropriately.

OK. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again...

I don’t care that Jerry Lee Lewis married his 14 year old cousin...

I don’t care that Liberace was a Flamer...

I don’t care that Chuck Berry was a sexual deviate...

I don’t care that Babe Ruth engaged in farting contests in the dugout...

I don’t care that Ali was a draft-dodging SOB (my father’s words)...

I don’t care that Nixon had an Enemies List...

I don’t care that Rush Limbaugh was into Pain-Killers...

I don’t care that Reagan (in the throes of dementia) was in favor of a “little” gun control...

These people - and others - brought something to the table, that nobody else could.

Jeter has stepped out of his area of expertise. I don’t care. It doesn’t change anything. For me, a Yankee fan since the 1900’s, Jeter is an historic figure for what he can do on the diamond. Everything else, is just nothing else...

Jeter you're a great ball player, call that good enough and don't mess with stupidity.
Play baseball, coach baseball, but leave stupidity alone.

I wonder what would make a Yankees infielder an expert on the climate. This is flippin’ creepy.
