Why not go straight for the kids?
“Hey Johnny, you don’t want Sandy Hook, do you? Tell us if your Dad (or Mom) have guns.”
And what rewards will he give to kids, a gold star?

Not quite worded that way, but my kids’ doctor essentially said the same thing to one of my kids.
As in Communist countries, parents who own guns are now REQUIRED to teach their kids how to lie convincingly (or not let them know you have guns).
