The game is over and Alabama won the NC. They got their press.

This story involves the entire national media getting duped by a Catfish or a player trying to fake a dead girlfriend to build up sympathy votes to win a Heisman. THAT is a far more interesting story.

Media just kept repeating the lies and making up their own version of the lies. Nobody in the press does real journalism anymore so the story kept going.

I don’t think it was only the Heisman or media lies. It was probably something Manti got sucked into and continued to embellish that he even mentioned ‘girlfriend’ twice after being informed it was a hoax and the Heisman votes were in. Probably more for the attention than anything.

The media deserve this. They are always trying to find some melodramatic personal story to wallow in when it comes to sports figures. There was a satirical piece in The Onion about an Olympic athlete who was working on a compelling personal story.

Liberals are ruining everything, including sports. Can’t we just watch the games? Do we have to hear about every competitor who lost a relative and is playing for him or her? It’s enough to make one gag. Costas and Mussberger are two of the worst offenders when it comes to blathering endlessly about a sob story. Oh, and even worse than those clowns is one of the announcers on Fox Sports Midwest who does the STL Cardinals games. He never talks about the game, just the schmaltz. Makes me want to kick in the TV.
