I was discussing the gun control issue of the day with a libhole at the office...she droned on: no needs an "assault weapon for hunting". First she nearly drooled on herself when I asked her to define "assault weapon", especially after I picked up a stapler and said if I hit herewith it, it would be an "assault weapon" I tried to explain to her the 2nd amendment is not about hunting, it's the right of the people to bear arms to protect themselves from government....after some worst case scenarios she says " oh that could never happen here". It already happened here, people we rounded up and sent to concentration (internment) camps right here in the US. No evidence, no probable cause. It was the demholes that did it. Ask some of the Japanese-Americans where grandpa lived in the early 40s.
I have to agree with you. It’s pointless most of the time.
The political discussion is only fruitful when you find people who are on the fence and undecided (truly undecided). I’ve had success with those people.
Most liberals only get angry with you and not matter how many times you make valid points they only seem to grow in the hate for you. There are a few people I can think of that loath me simply because they lost exchanges with me.
Anwar Al-Awlaki’s teenage son, killed in a drone strike in 2011. Al-Awlaki himself, also a US citizen I believe, was killed in a drone strike a few days earlier.
“Serious question. What do we do with libholes? I have tried my best to educate them. They just do not get it. I have no idea what to do when CWII happens.”
Neither will they. Since most of ‘em are “gun free”, you don’t have to worry about them firing back.
The leftists believe that if it comes down to brass (ammo, not tacks), they can rely on the military and the police to do the shooting for them per their bidding.
Some will.
Others won’t.
The proportion of the latter vs. the former will probably determine the outcome.
We shall see.
“Night” provides a little clarity on social groupthink and how we are conditioned to resist our instincts when they warn of danger.
That is a great book. Coincidentally, I hear Elie Wiesel was spat upon when he visited Germany a few years back. Can you believe that?
Actually, Hitler gained a lot of inspiration from what he saw Stalin doing in the Soviet Union.
Ever heard of Claire Wolfe?
I had not till now, but it looks like I have some reading to catch up on ;-) Thanks!
‘Tis an honour and a pleasure to be of assistance.
