Summary
American Idol wrapped its twelfth season on Fox with a low for a finale. Fast National returns have the two-hour episode (which aired between 8 and 10:08 p.m.) averaging a 3.4 rating among adults 18-49, a massive 47 percent drop from last year’s ender. Among total viewers, American Idol was down 8 million viewers to 13.6 million — the first time a finale has not reached the 20-million mark. Though American Idol’s ratings will surely see some improvement when final returns come in later on Friday, it will still by a far cry from last year’s ender. That episode brought in a finale low of a 6.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 21.5 million viewers — and that were down from the 9.2 adults rating and 29.3 million in 2011.
In conclusion, so many spring chickens are away from tv and watching on their phones, ipads, etc or downloading later on. Nielsen ratings is configuring a new way to do ratings but I don’t they it’s ready yet. They are in Dunedin, FL.
