i maybe wrong but i think many/a lot of the are gun shy...

getting shot down for most of them is still hard to take in today's self esteem driven world even for Christians

On dating sites, guys can put out a hundred messages for every response they receive. The smarter ones don't bother, they just put up the most flattering profile they can compose, and then see if any woman initiates a conversation.
