I hate to admit this but my own son has told me IF he marries, he won’t do it unless he gets a pre-nup. I was sort of shocked. I told him that his father and I are happily married for all these years and why would he be so jaded at such a young age. His answer... “most marriages aren’t like yours and Dads. If half of the people get divorced, I’m making sure that my stuff remains my stuff”. I guess hearing all those horror stories from pals about their parents divorcing, cheating, etc... jaded him.
Your son is right unfortunately. I am in the middle of this very thing after 28 years of being married. Never in a million years did I think I would be.
“Good” people like me stayed married. It was the “other” people that didn’t.
I would NEVER remarry without a prenup if that every is in my future.
Tell him to marry a woman who makes more and has more stuff than he does. As the article says there is now a majority of women in the workforce and at universities.
Both my parents - who are good and respectable people - are on their FOURTH marriage.
Needless to say, my brother and I have never considered marriage an option for anything.
He's correct. Current divorce and family law is heavily slanted towards the woman. Marriage (as opposed to living with her) has little benefit for the guy. More and more guys are going on strike against marriage.
