Much of it is the liberal educational system in America where women are taught that males are historically oppressive figures which leads to the redefined independent woman. But men are unemployed or have unimpressive jobs certainly in comparison to what many women possess. It is also difficult for some men to want to relate to someone who openly supports the murder of babies. Years ago, a former GF once told me getting an abortion was “like getting my nails done, I don’t need your permission.” There is also the pop culture phenomenon where men are reduced to buffoons and dolts whether in ads or TV shows and more so weaklings. The other night I dozed off in front of the TV and when I awoke there was an awards show. The entire intro was clips of women beating up and attacking men. In the background was supportive cheers. Then the hostess came out to the introduction of “Your butt-kicking hostess...” This is vastly different than the past when women were sexy and even intelligent. Now, women have become overly emotional and aggressive and those aren’t exactly qualities to attract a mate, they are qualities that repel.

Possibly...but then why is that?

Women have changed our culture for both men and women. If women show you no respect, then sleep around (and don’t respect themselves)...what attitude might you develop toward them?

I agree, it is sad looking at many young males...it’s just that it’s worse looking at the young females.

People don’t need marriage or a partnership these days.

Our government has taken the role of spouse. But like the Hotel California - Once you check in, you can never check out.

Why would young single American women want to marry a single man when nowadays they can have the whole of the U.S. government provide for their needs?

Ah...as my bald son-in-law once said, “God doesn’t put marble tops on cheap furniture”.....

I was thinking about why it’s almost impossible to have the “traditional” marriage of our parents. It’s not necessarily feminism, but necessity that has a woman/mother out working full time. I’m in my 60’s and my dad worked and supported my mom and 4 kiddos. But then, the income tax rate was about 10%. With all the taxes pushed on us nowadays, the average family’s tax burden is around 50% (state, federal, gas, sales tax, property tax, etc., etc.) That loss of income almost always requires another breadwinner in the home -—

I don’t see us going backward —the man who ears enough nowadays to support a family is too damned scared to try marriage without a pre-nup —so we have all these factors that are working together to destroy the traditional family.

Sounds familiar. My wife would drop her career in a heartbeat if I made enough money to sustain our current lifestyle. Back to the gulag!

I’m currently dating a girl of another faith (I’m Catholic, she’s Jewish) and although we hold the same values, politically and morally, the religious disconnect may be too much in the future.

My father was a Roman Catholic and democrat, my mother a protestant and a republican. They were married for nearly 60 years. Marriage is about love, work and commitment, in sickness and in health........'til death do us part'.

I noticed this trend 20 plus years ago while my wife still lived.

Women can get more from having many men to bed and to give them money and expensive presents. In addition to women more and more often getting positions which allows even more permanent employment then their equal in men. Men are more often discarded at a certain point (either salary level or non promotion whereas women are less often laid off and are more often given pay increases (in return for or for the promise of sexual favors.)

I have lived 16 plus years without my wife and in searching for another such mate, have found that women would rather barter for the highest bidder than for the more faithful lover/husband.

I and MANY like me have grown used to the fact that to get a wife one must pay the price and that price is much to high and with many stipulations with NO guarantees of faithfulness.

I now retain a faithful dog who is much more reliable and faithful than the possibility that any woman might be.

If females today are following the examples of Hollyweird and pop-culture, then they aren’t worth marrying anyways

But he married for the fifth time...

There is something very, very wrong with someone who marries that many times. He has to have extremely bad judgment. (And you have to conclude that the wedding vows mean nothing to him. Especially the one about "until death shall we part.")

Russian or Ukrainian makes so much more sense, unless you happen to stumble upon on of the rare good ones remaining here. Some good ones do exist here. But increasingly, that’s like knowing there is a one ounce gold nugget buried in the a dump truck of sludge from the sewage plant, and you are give a spoon with which to dig through and find it.

It’s more sane to go to better fields.

Your son is right unfortunately. I am in the middle of this very thing after 28 years of being married. Never in a million years did I think I would be.
“Good” people like me stayed married. It was the “other” people that didn’t.

I would NEVER remarry without a prenup if that every is in my future.

Her religion calls for her children to be raised Jewish... my religion calls for them to be raised Catholic. That’s the biggest challenge.
