Word For The Day, Thursday, January 10, 2013 – pseudology
dictionaries ad nauseam | 10 January 2013 | Thursday's sub

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

pseudology \soo-DOL-uh-jee\ , noun
The art of lying.

Example sentences:
For example, listening to the life history account of András Albert, a Transylvanian lumberman, the outsider may wonder how to distinguish fact from fiction, poetry from lie, and how to regard the relationship between pseudology and storytelling.
-- Linda Dégh, Narratives in Society

So many people would love to get their hands on a machine that can inhibit pseudology, mendacity and falsehood. The police, Intelligence services, all sorts and conditions of interested agencies and institutions.
-- Stephen Fry, The Liar

Etymology:
Pseudology comes from two Greek roots, pseudo- meaning "false" and –logy meaning "study of." The word does not literally mean "the study of lying" but has come to embody the sense of "the art of lying."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Bill Clinton, ex-king of pseudology
Was laid low by simple biology
Though it wasn’t a stain
That ended his reign
It was Obama’s more virulent pathology

As opposed to suedology, the practice of filing abusive actions in tort law, during which actions there will usually be a good deal of pseudology.

Unbelievable. I know penmanship has been de-emphasized in elementary school but that looks like a pen test to me.

The art of pseudology in government was largely invented by Goebbels and was mainstreamed by the Clintons and their henchmen. In the Obama regime, we witness its zenith.

Lying?

It psuedes them ....

Notice that it always takes the “mainstream” media about 24 hours to “get their stories straight” .. and after 24 to 30 hours, EVERY mainstream media reporter and print writer at UPI and AP starts using the same language and the same tone. That is because it takes 16-18 hours to get the talking points memo researched in focus and their political groups, get it written, and get it distributed.

the first few hours of a story are often most telling - because that happens BEFORE the news is controlled.

Errors?

Yes, absolutely there are also errors early on.
