According to state law, in SC, businesses must post “no firearms” signage meeting strict requirements or else it’s not enforceable. The font must be 1 inch, sign must be hung a certain height above the ground, sign must be certain size with certain wordage.
You are legally covered if the signage does’t meet certain criteria.
During our CCW class, we were advised not to make a big deal out of the failed attempt of a business to keep you from legally carrying but to carry on with our business when we see a sign that isn’t enforceable. In other words, don’t walk up to the manager and inform them that they can’t prevent you from carrying. (Don’t be an ass about it or they might just put up the right sign).
There is only one place in the Lowcountry that meets that requirement. It’s a Navy Federal bank in N. Charleston. (Of course, schools, federal buildings, bars etc....are gun free zones regardless of signage)
