Robert Griffin III couldn't run, at least not in any way resembling his usual sprints through the line and into open turf. Robert Griffin III couldn't throw, at least not the deep darts that move the chains and keep defenses honest.
Robert Griffin III couldn't lead the Washington Redskins' offense, not after his knee buckled in the first quarter of this NFC wild-card game against Seattle. A couple plays later Washington took a two-touchdown lead but the deal was done. It would gain just 41 yards over the next two and a half futile quarters with Griffin as quarterback, all but assuring Seattle's 24-14 victory.

It is more of the Redskins trying to stop an NFL team that cannot be stopped, other then stopped by the Patriots and it depends how next week’s playoffs go.
as heard on Rush.
as heard on Rush.
Well I think whoever wins the Seahawks - Falcons game is going to the Super Bowl..
Nonsense. The Skins should have won the game, and we would have had we had a QB for the 2nd-4th quarter. Cousins could have won this game if he’d been given a chance. This loss is totally on Shanny.
Dan Wetzel is just another leftist radical who never played football and cannot comprehend why an injured player wouldn’t insist on being benched, filing workmen’s comp claim and getting on the disability gravy train.
Lies??
Uh, perhaps, refuses to believe he can’t go on.
Therefore claims he can.
It’s a mind thing.
It’s someone known for doing incredible, almost impossible athletic feats. Can’t view himself any other way in this playoff game with everything on the line...
Suffering from Superman syndrome.
Alas, he’s human, not Superman, after all...
Shanahan blew it. I told RedMDer that on the FReepathon thread, that RG3 wasn’t himself after the 14-0 lead. Shanahan should have gone to Cousins right then and there.
Shanahan and everyone RG3 fan had better pray that RG3’s knee will not require surgery or if it does, that he can and will be able to heal completely.
Only a fool screws with the franchise quarterback’s health.
As if Cousins would have had any success moving the ball against the nfl’s best defense.
In my best british accent - “Not bloody likely”
Read the article - he's a lot harder on Shanahan, and I think he makes a very good case. (Yes, I played football.)
oh brother... what a stupid article... maybe RGIII really believed everything he was saying... put this one on the coach...
No, if you read it, he’s just saying that RGIII did what would be expected of a 22-year-old raised on the NFL mythology of injured players grinding out epic victories and would’ve played even if one of his legs had been sawed off cleanly at the knee. The blame squarely lies on the 60-year-old coach who should’ve known better, and taken him out whether the QB wanted to go out or not.
Yeah, because this is the first time a coach and QB didn’t disclose an injury for a playoff game.....
I did read the article and take issue with Wetzel calling RGIII a liar.
Did RG III play defense? If so, that must be how the D let Seattle score so many points.
Bottom line - the ‘skins lost as a team. No excuses.
Skins fans and talk radio, etc., are spending WAAAAAAAY too much time debating RG3 and Shannahan. RG3 does not block. RG3 does not tackle. He does not drop passes which hit him in the hands. He does not take handoffs. He does not rush the quarterback. He does not defend receivers. He does not open holes in the line for his running back.
The skins lost because their 22 guys beat our 22 guys. Over three quarters.
He’s right, RGIII should have been pulled sooner. But color me skeptical whether Washington wins the game. Seattle is on a roll.
As a rabid Seahawk’s fan, I totally agree with you. Shanahan better pray to God that young man makes a full recovery. Dan Snyder should be looking for a new coach.
Nobody I know in the Pugetopolis area wanted to see Mr. Griffin III used up like Coach Shanahan used his main guy. The picture of Mr. Griffin III placing his arm around the coaches shoulder reminded me of an abused wife coming to the defense of her batterer husband. Not right, even the Redskin’s team doctor has Shanahan’s number.
