Was speaking with my friend who owns a small firearms shop today.
I had always thought to ask him how long he had to keep the paperwork one fills out for a long arms purchase.
I did today. His answer: Forever, unless he goes out-of-business, then he has to turn it over to the feds.
It was pretty depressing, but I already, at heart, knew it.
They know who we are, and what we have, and no 'lost it in a boating accident' answer is going to satisfy them...

Nor, do I believe if any militias suddenly 'sprang up', would that deter them, from forced registration OR fines & jail time,
or outright confiscation.

This one may go down to the wire.

My brother in law was a FFL holder for decades as a small time person that enjoyed trading guns and repair with sales to acquaintances. It was so cheap, he just kept it active for years even though it only meant a few hundred dollars in profits per year. Then came Clinton and Janet Reno. They raised the cost to a point he just gave it up. They come at various times to check his paperwork and hassle you and intimidate you making you think you are on your way to prison or unpayable fines. When he gave it up, they took boxes of records he had collected over the years. Every FFL holder dies or quits at some point and gives up their records.

At the same time CBS( Dan Rather) reported the BATF was busy building a data base of the yellow forms of the people that gave up their FFL. That was supposedly illegal, but hey, it was just Clinton and Reno.

I have worried for literally years about getting a CFL in Texas. I've heard it all. They already know who you are. You get treated better by the cops. Less worry if you get caught with a weapon, and on and on. Now we see what filling out another form has wrought. I just pray that we survive this 4 years or at least Texas will secede. I'm 61 and burnt out of worrying.
