Dash cam video taken by an SPD squad car shows Issac Ocak taking sharp blows to the face while other officers held back his arms. (Warning: full video contains graphic language.) Ocak says he was brutally beaten by officers in December 2010 while shopping at Seattle's Westwood Village.
Once the police dash cam video surfaced, he enlisted the help of attorney James Egan.
"This officer is a bully with a badge," Egan said.

“Stay away from the Seattle cops.”
Why limit this policy to just to the Seattle Cops? This is more the “norm” for LEO’s across the country. I am not worried about the “average citizen” being armed, but I sure as hell am when it comes to the cops. The average citizen isn’t a threat to anyone, but most cops are a threat to everyone around them because they know that the “just us system” will give them a pass if they kill someone.
I want to see the whole video.
This guy in no way, no how deserved to be assaulted by these officers like this. He was in full control of the officers at this point.
They could have tazed him or used pepper spray, they didn't have to beat the crap out of him.
How in the heck do you defend against something like this? Just wow! Wow!
If your finger was being bitten off you would just calmly ask that the offender stop biting your hand, right?
Watch the whole video, people. The perp parks his car and leaves it running in a no parking zone adjacent to a store. The police think he is \about to commit a crime or has already committed one. The police ask him to move the car and he in turn gives the police a bunch of lip. They run a check on the perp and find he has previously assaulted police officers. They first restrained him on the hood of the car, he fought back, and the incident escalated. Sure looks like justified force to me.
I know if a policeman asks me to move, I do it quickly, politely, and with no sass or lip to the officer. What’s so hard about that? It’s a pretty simple rule to live by and you can easily go an entire lifetime without an encounter such as seen on this video.
There is a link to the full video just below the one shown on the site.
The guy probably deserved the Maglite Migraine. He failed to grovel quickly enough when ordered. Good thing he didn’t have his dog with him.
BONK!!!
I see the light now!
Thanks, CL, for the belly laugh! Happy New Year to you.
{CL pats POF on the head} "Good boy/girl! Good! Now roll over! Shake! Good boy!"
Has worked better for me than screaming “You filthy pig!”
It’s your choice in life, buster. Playing by the rules often works. Please explain how many times have you actually assaulted an officer during a routine stop and describe in detail the outcome of the encounter.
Oh, hi exit82! Merry New Year to you too!
I heard that line about the migraine from an ex-cop on another thread a few years ago. He was using the term approvingly, with warm memories still fresh from the carefree days with the boys on the watch. Boys will be boys and all....
If he had 1/2 a brain in his head, his finger would have never been in there in the first place. If you’re a machinist, would you stick your finger into a spinning lathe? If you’re an electrician, would you stick your hand into a hot circuit-breaker panel?
Then why the heck did this cop put his and anywhere *near* the perp’s head when he’s already well under control? It’s common sense.
Oops! False Dichotomy. You are saying I don't want extreme "A" but will accept the opposite equally extreme "B." You not only lost the argument, but lost your right to argue with me. You may document this loss of a simple argument for your friends if you wish, you have my permission. You're welcome.
I don’t want to watch 42 minutes, where is the assault by the copper
“Thats what I was wondering: how does one go from leaving your car at the curb with the engine running to having a cops finger in your mouth?”
That civilian was fortunate - the Jack Boots didn’t put something (or some part of their body) somewhere else on the civilians body. All too many cops have been found to have abused civilians with broom sticks, ad nauseam.
Having watched the full video to the point where the altercation is taken out of screen, I agree with you. The police seem justified in handcuffing the perpetrator who is clearly resisting, with several grabs at the guy’s face by more than one officer within the heat of the altercation. And I concer with the officer whose finger(s)was (were) clearly being bitten by the offender.
It seems like a clean bust to me.
Lickspittle.
