More like an invasion.
I did my USAF service from 82-86 at awful Offutt. With all the hospitals in Omaha I could never figure out why most of us didn't get CHAMPUS rather than that hospital whose administration seemed stuck in the 1950s.
82-86. The bad - we were ground zero for a Russian nuke attack and sure to die. The good - Ronald Reagan had just been elected President and we could be proud to do our job.
Thank you for your service ArGee. Great and wonderful times during the 80s. Can say it is a time (the 80s) miss immensely. Thank you for the exchange of conversation.
My generation (familial) was the first one to not serve in the military in over 250 years, but the three girls (moi included) married into the military, and two of us had children who served. My eldest grandson has also served in Afghanistan.
I have been, and always will be, proud to be an American, though I’m ashamed of our POTUS, the lying traitor. But don’t get me started!
