I’m convinced that nobody in Washington has the courage to do what is necessary to save this country from the policies that Washington has instituted in the last century.

The bottom line is that there is no political solution. Congress will continue to kick the can down the road until both the can and the kicker fall off the cliff. Nobody will dare to touch social security, medicare, endless unemployment benefits, food stamps for everyone, housing subisidies, farm subsidies, corporate welfare or any other entitlement. So the government will continue to grow and grow and grow until it swallows everything and everybody.

Ultimately the government will just have to print more and more money to keep the entitlements running and ultimately we will run out of people willing to buy our bonds. When that happens, everyone’s 401k’s proceeds will be transferred into US Bonds which will ultimately become was worthless as the German Deutchmarks were in the 1920’s.

So Congress will steal everyone’s 401k to continue to fund this monster until ultimately a trillon dollars worth of bonds will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks and then there will be blood.

I don’t see a solution to this other than the complete and total collapse of our governmental system. It is coming. It may be a couple of decades away, but the train is going downhill and it has no brakes.

I agree with you that America has lost its way, and that it is unfixable in a system that rewards voters who reward those who provide them with entitlements.

America’s only hope is another great spiritual awakening.

Since that is a work of God and not of man, one has to wonder if God will smile on this nation once again. It is a work of God, but our part is to proclaim.

Perhaps the religion forum always was the strength of FR while political discussion was a sideline.

Oddly enough, conservative victories seem to coincide with evangelistic fervor....Hezekiah, Josiah, Nehemiah, etc. Somehow our religious leaders got the impression that “balanced budget and job growth” is our strength.

I believe the groups that realize the power of evangelical outreach are the uber-liberal groups like “people for the American way” and “freedom from religion foundation”, which are designed specifically to attack Christian outreach.
