Word For The Day, Wednesday, January 2, 2013-- mansuetude
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
mansuetude [man-swi-tood]
noun
mildness; gentleness
Origin:
[13501400; Middle English from Latin mansuētūdō, from mansuētus, past participle of mansuēscere to make tame by handling, from manus hand + suescēre to train]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
cool. i passed it on to xshub.

I like your stream-of-consciousness rants,
although I’m not exactly sure why. :)
The problem many have with Boehner is that they believe the mansuetude-and-fro in “negotiations” before predictably throwing in the towel...
A++
We have a Boehner problem that can’t be cured by Viagra. Must be electile dysfunction.
Good thing!
My congresscritter voted “no” as well ... St Ronnie and I have sent several calls (and emails) to the local office through this whole mess. We’ve been fighting both so-called repubbie senators for while though - they keep getting more and more liberal the longer they are up there in the muck and mire.
Senators aside, we are not exactly in a “liberal congressional district” .. This one little area elected Larry McDonald (killed on KAL 007 by the Russians), Newt Gingrich, Tom Price, Bob Barr, and now Dr. Phil Gingrey.
(Maybe he thought Reid called him a "dick-t@$+er" last week...)
Hugo Chavez = “He’s dead, Jim...”
Some in congress never learn
That mansuetude will only invite
The ‘rat party and other sharks
To take a nice, juicy bite
Now they’ve done it yet again,
A rescue made of mirrors and smoke-
One look at your shortened paycheck
And you’ll know it was all a joke
So Boehner told Reid to sod off-
That is nice, but it’s not enough
Rand Paul makes a lot more sense-
At least he votes like he’s tough
Brrr-gray, damp and 37-I love walking in the woods on gray cold days, but since most of the animals were gone to ground, I decided to come home...
A+++
Nice poem.
Never thought Hugo would beat Fidel to the finish line.
I don’t know either but could it be your bungee cord was just a few yards too long? Or that by visiting our little bit of haven called Atkinsonville you raised the average I.Q. level by several points? Or that you secretly admire my mime? Another glass of “Old and Wonderous Solvent” and I’ll be back with you...back to normal...back to the wall..
That’s purty. The meter reader will enjoy it.
Thank you!
Neither did I, but is Fidel “alive”? Since communists are famous for such cover-ups, he could actually be stone cold dead in a freezer, he could be breathing, but minimally functioning, or he could still be a fully sentient being-the possibilities are endless...
You oughta knock that one down before it takes your gutter down.
Actually, in the case of kathy griffin, I am more worried for the health of Anderson Cooper because there is no telling where her filthy mouth has been.
I think I know where to find the hole in your gutter.
You asked me yesterday about rain.....Well rain measurement has become a bit difficult here..... yes we have had on and off drizzle and a few short showers, however, my daughters new dog is determined to mark every single spot in my back yard when he is visiting and my rain gauge has become one of his targets....... therefore, Im not using it for rain collection any longer. ;^)
Now, THAT is an icicle-your yard is an ice sculpture garden...
Can’t you put it up on your picnic table or something?
