“Art Modell is dead...maybe its time to move on?”
What a silly comment.
I wonder if the folks in Baltimore are dispassionate about the Colts?
Do you think the St. Louis fans don’t care about the Cardinals?
NFL teams try to play up the hometown team loyalty angle, until they find a better deal. And in doing so, create long term ill will when they move on. Art Modell was simply the catalyst. The fact that he’s dead means very little to most Cleveland fans. I will acknowledge there are some who would love to pee on his grave. I’m not in that group.
Oh no, the fans in St. Louis care deeply about the baseball Cardinals. We also very deeply care the the NFL Cardinals lose every single game.
Ok....then continue rooting for the new Browns. I’m just saying that I don’t see what geography has to do with it.
The Ravens/old Browns are in Baltimore, Modell IS dead...same franchise, new city...get over it.
I’ve moved on from the Lions (Lie-downs); follow the Packers now. At a certain point (for me: 45 or so years of failure) one has to divorce a team, which is geographically close...but has become far from one’s heart.
For me it was time. Like a wife one no longer loves.

Some people have speculated that because people are now moving all over the country for the sake of jobs, the advent of cable tv and the growth of the internet has caused people from different parts of the country to become fans of teams that are not in their locales.
That sounds reasonable to me.
