It is about making contacts. But this is not about corruptions. It is more about assembling an all star team to beat up on the others.

You take the best students and assemble them in one place, you get rid of the bad actors and malcontents and you get basically the New York Yankees playing against the KC Royals only worse because investment money goes to the Harvard people while the others are starved of capital.

So you get a confluence of talent and capital that stomps everyone else. Although this pertains more to my school Stanford than to Harvard.

Paypal was a good idea that anyone could have come up with.

But to execute it, you need talent and capital that lives at Stanford. Ditto for StubHub, Yahoo, Google, etc.
