I just got back from Les Miz and it was sold out all over Asheville. Daughter from Chicago got us ticket reservations over internet. I saw the stage production twice and love the music and story. It was extremely well done. Although the Hollywood singers don’t do justice to the more operatic voices of the stage production, the acting more than made up for the less operatic voices. Jean ValJean played by Hugh Jackman is Oscar nomintaion worth. His voice was fine and made up royally with the acting. I finally put the whole story better together with the movie-stunning photography-you could hear a pin drop throughout the full house theater and a clapping ovation at the end of the film. I want to see it again. Also saw Life of Pi-wonderful ,thought provoking story and Hitchcock-wonderful also. Must see all of them and i see few movies.

I could have written what you wrote!

The stage production was wonderful, and I was a little concerned the movie might fall short. It did not, and in fact, added another dimension to the enjoyment.

My only less than positive comment is that Anne Hathaway’s portrayal of Cosette was not as solid and her character did not have the depth of the stage presentation. She was good; but not great.

The theatre I was in - Richmond, VA - was also sold out.

I would highly recommend seeing the movie.

I’ve never seen les Miz, but I am really hoping to see this movie. I love Hugh Jackman and I am reading that what’s her name (Ann Hathaway?) really hits it out of the park with “I dreamed a dream” which is such a great song. It looks very good from the TV ads, like a real old time “BIG MOVIE”.

My problem is I really do not like to go to the movies alone and dragging hubby there is a chore. My daughter is home for a few days and I’m hoping we can get her hubby to watch the baby for a few hours one night this week and that she’ll go with me.

I wheedled hubby into taking me to “Chicago” for my birthday years ago and we both LOVED it. Even my really particular friend LOVED it when we showed it to her on DVD later. It’s really one of our faves.

If Les Miz is 1/2 as good as Chicago, that’ll be great.
