Chevron is Californias largest corporation, but it seems to be making the move to becoming Texas largest corporation instead. Thats 800 jobs out the door which gives Chevron a larger presence in Texas than it still has in California.

Staying & bought a house there...
Work was so scarce in the branch of the company in SoCal that I would only get assignments lasting a week....
I bugged out to Texas ASAP when I found out they needed people there.
But where can you live in Texas that is not either suffocatingly humid in the summer or relentlessly windy?
How do you handle the stifling summer humidity and hurricanes in Houston?
Is there any chance In-N-Out burger will move some of their California stores to the mid-atlantic area? I could stand a double double now.
Rather, Captain Brown continues to divert most power to the babysitting modules(public schools and prisons). Oddly, those modules don’t seem to affect the course at all.
“They run it through Governor Brown and his illegal third term in office.”
The only solace I have is that Jerry the Fairy will be remembered along with guys like these mental cases that take out bunches people just before they off themselves for the worthless POS he is and always has been.
Air conditioning and a house built to code.
I live in Denton and don’t find it to be either of those things. Hot sometimes? Sure, that’s why we have air conditioning, fans and iced tea.
There is a new technology: Air conditioning.
In western Texas they supplement that with swamp coolers, at the cost of some water, the electricity required for cooling is cut to 1/7th to 1/14th. The other thing you do to manage climate is to schedule your activity. Summer mornings at 5:00AM are pretty pleasant. Winters about 3:00PM are pretty pleasant. In southern CA you do the same thing, but schedule around the traffic.
Sounds like a smart move. Were there any other factors that figured into your thinking about that decision, or was it solely a choice driven by economics?
Chevron moved from market street downtown San Francisco to San Ramon a few years back to escape Willie. Now that California has degraded to a welfare state CHV will most likely settle in Houston.
The next step is to go off-shore. Federal Regulations, market interventions and taxation are crippling the producers.
Appreciate and respect your hard decision to “walk with your feet” and kiss off lala land. Hard to stop momentum to Gamorrah .
Economics, plus more freedom (ex: 2nd amendment, among others :))
I heard that. But let me digest the Christmas Ham first.
Right, but summer's mainly an inside sport, right?
So summer's mainly an inside sport, right?
On the political weather map, what is the realistic prognosis of the Texas Legislature and State Congress voting for or against Perrys decline of the state exchange for Obamacare?
The Democrat politicians definitely understand the damage they are doing. They simply don’t care. As long as they can get elected and re-elected, and nail a lifetime of pensions and perks, they couldn’t care less about anything else. It’s all about greed.
Probably 95% of the people that work for Apple are in China.
I think the nation is moving closer and closer to a point where the states are going to begin telling the feds to FOAD, with their economy crushing regulations and communistic trashing of the basic compact between the states and the feds - the US Constitution.
Sooner or later, some red state Governor is going to stand up on national television and tell Obama to "Bring It!" Washington has assumed near-dictatorial powers, and at least half the nation has had about enough of it. If they don't back off soon, they're going to ignite something they don't have the power to extinguish.
Good for Chevron. They'll be more than welcome in the Lone Star state.
Sonn the Socialists will have just what they want, a 100% government-operated State of California. 0bamacare in the U.S. + California = a vast portion of the American economy & industry under government control; Slowly they creep.
