National Guardsmen are paid two days per month. And they can not accomplish their already-assigned tasks in that time.
Not to mention updating their mobility folders, getting their shots/dental/piss tests/NBC training/UXO training/diversity training/UCMJ training, etc... signed off, without pencil whipping it.
People don't realize what reservists/guard do.
And of course, in the guard, you pretty much have to wait for someone to retire or die before a slot opens so you can advance in rank. Reserves, not so much.
