“It is a little much when the volume of a TV etc has to be decided by the courts and politicians.”

I work in television. This is an area I’m glad to see government — meaning the people — finally exercise its legitimate prerogative.

Because in this case it isn’t government stepping in and telling property owners what to do with their property. WE own the property. The law is quite clear: the airwaves belong to the people. Every bit of bandwidth. Networks are required to have a license to use our airwaves. That means we get to decide how loud commercials are.

It’s well documented that people have been screaming for years about the volume. The networks could have and should have acted, and they didn’t. They ignored their bosses — the people who own the airwaves. So now they get legislation.

Car commercials are the worst! Also men’s sports products. For both they use music from the pit of hell. This is good legislation.

Now if they would just get rid of daylight savings time so we won’t be sitting down to eat

dinner at 6 pm when the sun is blinding and it’s 110 degrees out side.

First off, I did say that the ‘powers that be should have used some common sense’ etc...

As to “US” ‘owning’ the airways, yes in the same respect that “WE” paid to build the highways, pay police forces etc.

Agreed the Government is “WE THE PEOPLE”, not the ‘people are us’.

My point was that it is stupid for Government to be wasting their time with matters such as this when it can and should be resolved on our own.
