My husband’s brother lives in Wichita, Kansas and when he built his home he had a bomb shelter installed that could be accessed from the basement but that also had an outside exit. His neighbors laughed at him for having a bomb shelter. When the tornado swept through the neighborhood this past April Evan and his family came through it just fine in the shelter. They also had a ready-made place to live while they repaired the damage to their house.
Some of their snarky neighbors aren’t around anymore to hear them say, “I told you so.”
Ditto with the preppers. Maybe they’re wrong and nothing will happen. So then what’s the harm? To me they are no different than people who buy fire extinguishers: you buy it because you might have a fire, not because you’re crazy and paranoid.

I have lots of fire extinguishers. I don’t know how many I have because if I did I would have to buy more:)
