Exactly. Dependency is where totalitarian political power is derived from. Individual self reliance cannot be allowed to flourish in a brutish nanny state for that state to remain in power. People who embrace the nanny state as their sole provider and security blanket see the self reliant as a threat to their cash cow and nursing sow.
