I have $5000.

I need to buy time to finish up a rather large computer project, which is here:

http://www.wikitimelines.net/

I can live on $5000 in the US until April.

In Mexico I can live on that for a year. Anything that extends my bench time on this project is very helpful.

The car is mine. My dad is on the title/registration, that is all. I paid for the car. My dad has never seen the car.

I do not owe child support.

I have 3 different DUI’s in 3 different states.

I explain 1 in great detail here:

The other 2 I got while living in my car in 2009. Apparently since we dont have vagrancy laws, police will charge you with DUI if you occasionally sleep in your car were they dont want you to. It is much more lucrative for them. Many of the towing and impound lots are owned by the police or their family members.

I can get Mexican insurance.

And yes, I was in Mexico, on a 60’ sailboat for 6 months back in 2002. I understand Mexico. I like Mexico.

That won't mean anything to any legal authority. The law will view your dad as the owner of the car and any criminal or civil liabilities accruing from ownership of it will fall on him.

Your dad is on the title, he owns the car and is totally responsible, all the liability is on him. What did you do forge his name, you say he doesn’t know.
A DUI is a DUI.
You need a license to get insurance but hey you are lying to your dad what’s the Mexican government - oh wait jail.

Mexico has changed since 2002 it is a war zone. The cops even kidnap people. Are you going to get a work or visitors permit/visa? You will need one if you will be there longer than 72 hours or go further south than 18 miles. You are putting your father at huge risk for his name being on the title /registration he should not let you drive the car and his insurance wont cover you here or there.

In Mexico how are you going to protect your project, computer, data etc from getting stolen?

I suggest you think of another plan and find a place to stay that you can take public transportation or walk to. Maybe go to work and save money so you can continue your project..borrow money or sell an interest in your project selll the car,you can’t legaly drive it.

I wish you well but I think your idea is very foolish.

Does the name MCafee ring a bell?

I’m not sure why this thread has gotten so personal and nasty, but good luck to you anyway. My only advice is, stay the hell away from Mexico. It’s gotten considerably worse in the last ten years.
