older homes, like my parents, you can throw up a pair of drapes and throw them out and replace them when they get dirty. newer housing has the more dramatic windows and unless you want to be on display to the entire street, you have to pay to have someone come in and cover them with draperies. My SIL is going to facing this situation when they move into their new house in Houston. They have lived in an old house in Ohio for years. They bought new construction and you can’t get that really, without the more dramatic window styles. Lucky for her, her mother worked in a drapery shop for years and does that kind of sewing. so she will likely do them for my SIL and bro’s new house.
So, a big box of Hefty bags for a house warming present.
