Word For The Day, Monday, 12/10/12
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
quiddity; noun
noun, plural quid·di·ties. 1. the quality that makes a thing what it is; the essential nature of a thing. 2. a trifling nicety of subtle distinction, as in argument.
Etymology:1539, "captious nicety in argument" from M.L. quidditas, lit. "whatness," from L. quid "what," neut. of quis (see who). Sense developed from scholastic disputes over the nature of things. Original meaning "real essence or nature of a thing" is attested in Eng. from 1569.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Practice makes perfect.....post on....
A+++ and an extra + for the first quidditch reference.
Did you try vacuuming them?
the material is very delicate, they are sheer shades, i would be afraid they’d get sucked into the vacuum.
Is this your rapper name? Quid It T?
would be a great one, wouldn’t it??? A+++
You had me with “filthy person.”
You should confess to your priest. After hearing tales of adultery, thievery, and brutality all morning, dirty window treatments would give him a lift.
Which reminds me:
A nun was undressed, getting ready to step into the shower when there was a knock on her door.
“Who is it?”
“It’s John, the blind man.”
Feeling no concern about her nakedness in front of a blind man, she opened the door.
“Hi, sister! Nice boobs!! The blinds are clean and I’ve come to hang them back up.”
Love that, I do. Except he left out Yoda speak.
I think I’m a pretty good housekeeper but once in a while I see something and am stunned that I’ve missed it before!
vacuums have an adjustment to the suction, leave that wide open to try then slowly close to raise the suction. usually works for me, just pick a room you hate the window coverings in. ;^)
hilarious!
A+++
what an orderly toy room! he could come to our house and chan and jules could do that to him with their dog toys! ; )
I got sick of my elderly dog peeing on my floors....SO I bought doggie diapers. She can move pretty fast when I pick one of those things up. She hates them. I, however, feel much more at ease about leaving her with a diaper on. My house feels cleaner already.
we paid a fortune 12 years ago, though i don’t remember who even made them for me or what i paid. the lady yesterday had to tell me what they were called again. i presume i knew when i got them originally that the living room had austrian shades and that the dining room has a kingston valance with panels. but the lady yesterday told me what they were called and that they were very expensive. i am not a home decorating type, not interested in redoing anything. she can bleach these because they are offwhite. i don’t move furniture around or redecorate or watch any of those shows, they just make me nervous. i am missing whatever that particular gene is. Though i have to say i am happy with the new hardwood floors in the fam room. we had the berber wall to wall taken out and hardwood put in there, bc it’s easier to dustmop for dog hair than to vacuum constantly. Jules black hair became a problem on the light colored rug. Chan and Loosh[RIP] are/were only a problem if you are wearing black.
Omigosh, as if that elf couldn’t be any creepier!
