The first look at Star Trek Into Darkness is making some people angry because they think it looks like some sort of Dark Knight Rises clone. I am not one of them. I loved J.J. Abramss first movie so much that nothing could make me dislike this one.

J.J. Abrams is a sci-fi maniac! I got hooked on his work with Fox’s Fringe franchise and have been enthralled by his other works. The folks at Bad Robot make sci-fi fun again.

I don’t know if I like Benedict Cumberbatch, as I haven’t really seen him in too much.
There are only two actors that come to my mind that have shown the ability to be able to act in every movie possible, but not suffer from over exposure. Gene Hackman and Robert Downey Jr.
Every other actor, imo, tends to over expose themselves when they work too much.

Sherlock is the first thing I saw him on. SUCH a good actor.

I am not sure I can muster up the enthusiasm you appear to have. This looks very similar to "The Dark Knight Rises", and, if similar, will ruin this newer
Star Trek series for me. Star Trek without a significant space element will fail. This movie looks almost completely ground-based.

Kahnnnnnn!!!!
The young Kahn (aka Ricardo Montalban in CGI) is going to be in the next movie. That is my prediction.

Sherlock is the only thing I've seen him in so far.
We'll see how he does with the voice-overs for Smaug and as this character in the new Star Trek movie.

SO well said. I LOVED Lost as well. He does make SciFi fun again.
To: RIghtwardHo
It’s not just his ideas but his use of lighting, atmosphere, and realism. He makes sci-fi seem real, because it’s more or less rooted in reality as we know it. There are very few suspensions of disbelief required to get to where he’s thinking.

"Benedict Cumberbatch is showing up everywhere suddenly."
I first saw him in Sherlock, then recently saw him in the newer release of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and War Horse. I just checked his page at IMDb, and he's been in various British TV series since 2002, with a movie thrown in here and there. His career has really taken off since the first season of Sherlock. Hadn't realized he was playing Khan in the new Star Trek film. My youngest son had told me that they had pushed back the latest season of Sherlock because Cumberbatch was so busy with other projects. Looking forward to seeing this.
