The only people who saw 2016 were the people who weren't going to vote for him anyway. It really didn't do that great money wise. Fahrenheit 911 made four or five times the money that 2016 made. It just was not a word of mouth type film enough.

F911 had a global film market (including marketing by terrorists in Lebanon) whereas there are only small pockets of persons in Eastern Europe, England, and Canada who cheer for the American Way.
