You’re redirected to one of Yahoo’s data centers - one that is close to your location and has low traffic. Akadns (Akamai DNS) is the service provider which manages the redirection decisions.

Thanks for all the advice from folks. The Yahoo data center answer makes sense but I’m tunning malwarebytes just to make sure no bugs. I’ve often noticed that when I mistype the address for drudgereport I get re-directed to parasite sites, and it was odd to get redirected when I had double-checked to make sure I was correctly typing yahoo.com!
