On the one hand, as a parent, I don’t think I’d consent to the idea of my child feeding wild animals.
On the other hand, if I were there, and they had a program going, and it had been going on safely for years, I might think, “It must be safe, there are other kids doing it, their underwriters wouldn’t insure them if this was unusually dangerous.”
It wasn’t really unusually dangerous. She got a couple of bite marks on her hand. It hurt, and she’ll probably get antibiotic for a week. Then it will be a cool story she can tell her friends.
She’ll probably fall off her bike sometime this year, and get hurt more. And she won’t remember riding her bike as fondly as she remembers getting to feed and pet a dolphin.
