I was sent to the Pincipal’s Office once and after waiting for a minute I got up and left. I walked all the way home, I usually walked home, boy was my mother surprised to see me.

Of course I was taken back to the school. I did not get spanked by the principal without my parents approval, I can tell you that.

I got paddled all the time in school and the last thing I wanted was for my parents to know it. I wasn't bad...there was a higher standard and I just talked a lot.

The teachers were different in those days. Growing up in a small town, my parents knew most of the teachers outside of school.
