Teacher's Reward Program Charges Second-Graders for Bathroom Breaks

The mother of a 7-year-old Irving elementary school student says her son wet his pants in class after his teacher refused to let him use the restroom Thursday afternoon.

"I was absolutely appalled," Sonja Cross said. "I could not believe it."

The first-year teacher at J.O. Davis Elementary awards her students with "Boyd Bucks" for good behavior. Going to the bathroom outside of the three scheduled breaks costs two Boyd Bucks per trip.

Cross' son, an honor roll student, needed to go to the bathroom, but he sat back down because he didn’t have any Boyd Bucks, his mother said.

"He tried to hold it as much as he could, but he just couldn’t," Cross said. "He came home from school, and he was crying and really upset."

"Really, that's just unhealthy," Cross said. "I think that she had no concern for the children."

Cross complained to the teacher, but didn’t like the response.

"Originally when I first spoke with the teacher, she was just going to show my son special treatment, but then I said, 'That's just not good enough. I need for you to stop this for all the children,'" she said.

My understanding is that the early promoters of publicly funded and controlled education wanted to re-engineer society away from Christianity and family, to a society in which citizens gave their allegiance to the State. That has been going on for close to 200 years and it has been very successful.

Google "founding fathers public education"

“Google “founding fathers public education””

Sure! Here are some quotes from Noah Webster, considered the “father of public education in America”.

- “Education is useless without the Bible.”
- “The Bible was America’s basic text book in all fields.”
- “In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed....No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.”

No the problem is government schooling itself.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Indeed! The very foundation is rotten.

Government schooling's very foundation is a socialist-funded, single-payer, compulsory-use, and godless entitlement. How can that be fixed? It can't.

Actually, I do support conservatives running for school board if their sole purpose is to abolish the government schools.

And...I support Christian teachers working in the government school **if** at absolutely every opportunity they warn their students, the parents, and their neighbors about the evils of socialist, single-payer, and godless schooling. Of course they may be fired before the school year but that would be “doing something”.

By the way.....At their very best government schooling **forced** a generic and lukewarm Protestantism on their captives. They gradually deteriorated until, by the 50s and 60s they were merely nodding on occasion in the direction of God.

What does Christ do with the lukewarm? He spits them out of His mouth!

Is there any example of Christ using the threat of armed Roman guard action to herd captive children into buildings so His message could be **forced** upon them? No.

A religiously neutral education is impossible and government schools **always** have, are now, and always will, be using tax funds ( collected under the threat of force) to promote the religious worldview of the most politically powerful ( today, godlessness).

How do you think Jesus feels about you bearing false witness?

Sspecifically, when were you or your children placed in jail or taken in custody while you were homeschooling?

Failure to reply with anything other than an exact date will be viewed as an admission that you have been caught in another of your lies.

The school superintendant told me by email (I think he texted from his phone) that this program was discontinued and is being evaluated.

“Great, so get yourself and like minded people elected to a school board and make that change.”

The federal courts have taken the position that “that change”, bringing the Bible into the public school classroom is non constitutionally permissible.

Of course, you knew that already, so at best your response is disingenuous.

I can and do give my children a far better education simply by opting out of the government school system - and encouraging others to do the same.

Agreed.

I do not understand the mind processes of these ardent government school defenders who can sometimes be found in other threads attacking single payer socialized healthcare and big government in general. Socialism is the political expression of the secular humanist religion. Government schools are secular humanist institutions which are, according to the Barna surveys, quite effective in converting children away from the Christianity of their parents.

Wintertime, verga asked you a simple direct question: Specifically, when were you or your children placed in jail or taken in custody while you were homeschooling?

You seem to ignore quite a few of his questions.

Let me ask you: Have you ever been held at gunpoint to send your children to public school? Were you, your wife, or any of your children ever arrested for not attending a public school?

BTW I don't have a ping list, I'm just an career ex-military officer that doesn't like bullies.

Re: Our nation's socialist entitlement and government owned and run K-12 schools and police and court enforcement:

Since you are a military officer, I am confident that you understand that every government law has the backing of police and court power. Our Founding Fathers understood this and strove to **limit** government to its most basic and essential function: Protection of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness ( private property).

Therefore......Backing every compulsory government school there are armed police and judges that stand ready to enforce the compulsory school attendance laws. If you do not believe the above, I suggest that you do a Google search on the words: Truant, police, and courts.

If a citizen refuses to pay their taxes to support the godless and socialist-entitlement school, again, armed police and judges stand ready to see that they are paid. On occasion, I have attend county auction of properties being sold for failure to pay taxes. Armed sheriffs were in attendance, and the former owners of the property did face court action. Armed sheriffs were very much a part of the entire eviction process.

Most people are rational enough to avoid full blown confrontation with the police and courts, (risking not only imprisonment but death, ) but it does happen occasionally.

Some socialist schooling defenders will say, “But....There is always the freedom to homeschool or privately school.” Yes, there is. We must thank those courageous citizens who went to great expense and personal hardship to bring these matters before courts, literally dealt with armed police, and who that eventually secured the freedom to remove their children from the government's vise. But...Today, to escape the iron grip of the police and court backed government indoctrination camps, parents must pay the jizya to secure their child's ransom. Not only must they take on the extra expenses of private and home school but they must pay, all their lives, to support the godless socialist entitlement system of government schooling.

Thanks to the government's creation of socialist-entitlement schools ( a cartel and price-fixed monopoly) , which is giving a service away for tuition-free, private schools are scarce in many counties. And....As is typical of government run programs these cartel, price-fixed, and monopoly schools are **expensive**. I have estimates as high as $17,000 per child. The high taxes needed to support this bizarro system of government schools far too often forces both parents into the workplace. The stress contributes to family dysfunction and then the government teachers complain that they aren't getting “support” at home from the **exhausted** parents.

Re: Bullies ( An example)

Bullies continually harass other posters with unwanted, completely unsolicited pings even after being requested politely and respectfully not to do so. One variant of “bully” is STALKER.

Bullies make nearly every discussion **personal**.

Re: Victim

The person who is repeated harassed and stalked with unwanted, and completely unsolicited pings even after requesting in absolutely the most polite manner that they stop.

Re: An example of projection

Bullies who call the **victim** a bully.

However, I have complete faith that debating tactics used by many government school defenders ( some of whom are government school workers) and seen here on Free Republic would **never** be used against emotionally vulnerable and emotionally and socially immature students in any government classroom ( who, like prisoners, are in an inferior position of power), To do so would be child abuse.

As a teacher, you can tell which kids play in the bathroom and which kids need to go.

All you have to do, if you aren't sure the kid needs to go, is tell them, "Ok, but you owe me 5 minutes of recess time". The child that has no problem with it needs to go. (and I never take the 5 minutes from them)

This first year teadher needs a mentor teacher to tell her not to do stupid things!

Wintertime I will be glad to not ping you after you give a legitimate answer to the question: Let me ask you: Have you ever been held at gunpoint to send your children to public school? Were you, your wife, or any of your children ever arrested for not attending a public school?

all this requires is a simple yes or no, not the "non-answer" that you tried to intimidate me with.

BTW I don't have a ping list, I'm just an career ex-military officer that doesn't like bullies.

This question makes this discussion personal. Even if I were to answer it, my **personal** experiences are not in any relevant to the larger issues surrounding compulsory and socialist based government education. For these two reasons, therefore the question posed is not worthy of a response.

I respectfully request that you not ping me again for the duration of this thread. You have my full permission to comment in any way you like to my posts, but please do not ping me or contact me by private mail. Only a bully and stalker would do that, and fully trust that you are neither a bully or a stalker.

With complete good will and respect,

Wintertime
