Tom Cruise plays “Tom Cruise” in every movie he’s ever been in.

Not early on. He was okay in "Taps". The funny thing is, the star of that movie never quite achieved the fame of his co-stars, but I would rather watch Timothy Hutton in Nero Wolfe Tv shows than any of the Tom Cruise or Sean Penn movies.
