My wife carries a Rossi .38 which is a S&W J-Frame revolver. I have almost a dozen now for her to choose from, and she always goes back to that. She likes how it feels, very ergonomic. Very similar to this:
They are also not too expensive. You can find them around $300-$400 at gun shows.
